Quarterfinal at the 1986 World Cup.



For your information. The Confed Cup has Tahiti in it and they qualified by beating New Caledonia. So loads of good teams. Saudi Arabia, Japan, Cameroon, the US also made the final before. So it shows how strong these teams actually are. The World Cup usually doesn't show that as Saudi Arabia lost 8-0 at the WC shortly after and Japan got knocked out at the group stage. So the Confed Cup is clearly better.

Mexico always do well in the World Cup... Bulgaria had a good team in 1994, as did Germany in 1998 and Argentina in 2006. I would say all of their performances have been pretty consistent. The worst I think would be 2002... yes you topped your group (although is wasn't the strongest), but losing to the US as favourites is disappointing.
