Well I know the list of the "Top 100 Athletes of the 20th Century," was created on 12/21/99. A possible reason could have been that Hugo Sanchez was just a recent impact and not a living legend like Pele, Maradona, or Franz Beckenbauer who were players from early on. And lets face it if it wasn't for Maradona's two goals in W.C. 86, the "hand of God" and the goal were he out beated everyone on the English team from half field he wouldn't be as famous as he is today. Now back to Hugo if you give it 20 years he will star receiving more recognition. For example right now people are criticizing Ronaldo for being fat but everyone knows he is one of the greatest strikers of all time and he will have to wait a few years to start hearing all of this. People take what they have for granted and only until awhile later do they realize who or what was infront of them.
